SCARPA & Sea to Summit Area Sales Manager -Southern England & South Wales

The Mountain Boot Co Ltd is one of the UK’s leading distributors in the outdoor market, with a portfolio of globally recognised and innovative brands, backed by a reputation for brand building, commercial expertise and exceptional customer service.

SCARPA, through its near 90-year history, has an unmatched reputation and portfolio of performance footwear spanning multiple categories and markets.

Sea to Summit is a global leader in the outdoor living space, known for exceptional product innovation, design, performance and commercially effective solutions at point of sale.

We are seeking to appoint an Area Sales Manager for Southern England & South Wales, with responsibility for managing and developing business growth and contribution across a wide range of existing and prospective retailers within the Outdoor, Running and Climbing markets.

This is a key customer-facing role with significant responsibility for growing brands across the territory. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial skills with genuine passion for the outdoor market, developing long-term customer relationships while maximising sales, profitability, brand presentation and market opportunity.

The Role

● Manage and develop revenue and profitability growth across our existing account base through effective seasonal sales campaigns.

● Optimise ranging and depth across brands and categories, securing accurate, realistic and achievable seasonal pre-orders and forecasts.

● Identify opportunities for incremental growth through ranging, gap analysis, new product introductions and increased penetration of existing accounts.

● Manage accounts actively throughout the season to optimise sell-through, inventory and intake, working proactively with customers to identify opportunities and resolve challenges.

● Coordinate marketing support to ensure optimum digital representation, product accuracy and brand presentation, alongside physical in-store excellence.

● Conduct seasonal and ongoing staff training and product support for both independent accounts and multiple-branch retailers within the territory.

● Attend and support seasonal trade shows, trade events and occasional consumer events and product demonstrations.

● Develop new business opportunities, identifying prospective retailers that fit the brand strategy and converting them into sustainable, long-term trading relationships.

● Work closely with the wider MBC sales, marketing and brand teams to ensure a coordinated approach to account development and territory growth.

The role will require a degree of evening and weekend work alongside extensive travel and time away from home.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

● A strong track record in trade sales, account management and commercial development.

● Proven ability to nurture and grow accounts through optimised ranging, gap analysis and commercial planning.

● Established relationships with a core range of relevant customers across the Outdoor, Running and/or Climbing sectors.

● A proven track record of identifying, approaching and converting prospects into successful, long-standing accounts.

● Experience of managing a geographical territory, with strong account planning and efficient journey management.

●A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the commercial drive to identify opportunities rather than simply service existing business.

● A willingness to go the extra mile to build strong, trusted relationships with customers and deliver exceptional levels of service.

● A strong connection to the outdoor market through genuine passion and experience across the end-use categories — ideally Hiking, Camping, Running, Mountaineering and/or Climbing.

● Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage equally with independent retailers, larger multi-site accounts and retail staff.

● The ability to work autonomously, manage priorities effectively and take ownership of delivering the commercial objectives for the territory.

* Ability and drive to mine data to drive business growth.

The Package

MBC provides a competitive salary, dependent on experience, alongside a broad package of additional benefits including:

● Company car

● Optional pension scheme

● Healthcare

● Equipment purchase benefits

● Company-provided tools and equipment required to effectively manage the territory

The role offers the opportunity to represent globally recognised outdoor brands within an established and highly respected UK distribution business.

For the right individual, this is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of Scarpa and Sea to Summit within some of the UK’s most important outdoor, running and climbing retailers.
